On Aug. 10, the federal government of Canada introduced the Commodities Sectoral Support Program, an attempt to decrease the cost of moving domestic steel by offsetting transportation costs. This program creates a 50% rebate for rail and marine transportation costs for Canadian steel shipped across provincial and territorial borders. The program has $100 million in funding available and will run until these funds are exhausted.
