Michigan for Responsible Data Centers Coalition

On March 19, the Michigan Chamber of Commerce announced a new statewide coalition called Michigan for Responsible Data Centers to facilitate fact-based discussion on data center development. As data centers have become a prominent target of policy discussion at both the state and local level, this coalition will help push back against misinformation and promote development standards to help keep Michigan competitive in the rapidly growing data center industry.

Since its launch earlier this year, Michigan for Responsible Data Centers has created a resource for policymakers on the most contentious topics surrounding data centers, which can be found here. In addition to a general Data Center Guidebook, it provides information and sources on issues such as land use, water usage, energy use, noise mitigation, and economic impact.

This coalition from the Michigan Chamber can serve as a great resource for developers in Michigan. We encourage NAIOP members to spread the word and share the coalition’s work with leaders in their local communities. More information can be found at the Michigan for Responsible Data Centers website.
